Agreement to Terms

By inviting Chronicle to your Discord server or interacting with Chronicle, you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, please remove Chronicle from your server.

Description of Service

Chronicle is a Discord bot that:

  • Records voice channel sessions when explicitly commanded
  • Transcribes audio into text
  • Extracts and organizes campaign information using AI
  • Maintains a persistent knowledge graph for your TTRPG campaigns
  • Optionally syncs campaign data to connected third-party services

Acceptable Use

You agree to use Chronicle in compliance with Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. Specifically, you agree not to:

  • Record participants without their knowledge or consent
  • Use Chronicle to capture sensitive, private, or non-gaming conversations
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, exploit, or abuse Chronicle's systems
  • Use Chronicle for any illegal purpose
  • Exceed reasonable usage limits that would degrade service for others

Recording Consent

You are responsible for obtaining consent from all voice channel participants before starting a recording. Chronicle provides commands to start and stop recording — it does not record automatically. By starting a recording, you represent that all participants are aware of and consent to being recorded.

Intellectual Property

  • Chronicle's software, design, and branding are owned by us
  • Your campaign data belongs to you — we claim no ownership over campaign content, session transcripts, or creative material generated during your sessions
  • AI-generated summaries and extractions are provided as a service feature and are yours to use

Service Availability

  • Chronicle is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind
  • We do not guarantee uptime, accuracy of transcriptions, or completeness of AI extractions
  • We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Chronicle and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to:

  • Loss of data or campaign information
  • Inaccurate transcriptions or AI summaries
  • Service interruptions or downtime

Data and Privacy

Your use of Chronicle is also governed by our Privacy Policy. By using Chronicle, you consent to the data practices described therein.

Termination

  • You may stop using Chronicle at any time by removing it from your server
  • We may terminate or restrict access to Chronicle for violations of these Terms
  • Upon termination, you may request deletion of your data as described in our Privacy Policy

Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of Chronicle after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. Material changes will be communicated through our Discord support server or documentation.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law, without regard to conflict of law principles.
